Electricity Consumption and Cost Calculator
From a device's wattage and hours of use, calculate its daily, monthly and yearly electricity consumption (kWh) and cost.
Things to keep in mind:
- Thermostat or compressor devices (fridge, AC, boiler, heater) do not run at full power all the time; label-based results may overstate real use.
- Standby use, tiered tariffs, time-of-use price differences and fixed charges are not modelled separately.
- The price is your input; the tool contains no current EPDK tariffs.

About this tool
This tool calculates how much electricity a device such as a heater, air conditioner, fridge, washing machine, lighting or computer uses and what it costs. Enter the power (W), hours per day, days used per month and the quantity; the tool shows daily, monthly and yearly kWh and cost.
Formulas
- Daily consumption (kWh) = power (W) × hours per day × quantity ÷ 1,000
- Monthly = daily × days used per month
- Yearly = monthly × 12
- Cost = consumption (kWh) × price (TRY per kWh)
- Cost per hour = power (W) × quantity ÷ 1,000 × price
Example
A 2,000 W heater running 5 hours a day, 30 days a month, at an all-in price of 3.1234 TRY per kWh: 10 kWh and 31.23 TRY per day, 300 kWh and 937.02 TRY per month, 3,600 kWh and 11,244.24 TRY per year. One hour of use costs 6.25 TRY.
Finding your price
Turkish electricity tariffs are set by EPDK and change periodically, and bills add distribution charges, taxes and levies to the energy charge. For the most accurate result divide the total amount due on your bill by the kWh consumed in that period. The tool does not hard-code any tariff.
How to use
- Enter the device power in watts and the quantity.
- Enter the hours of use per day and the days used per month.
- Enter the all-in price per kWh.
- Click Calculate.
Notes
Money is rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals; each cost is computed from unrounded consumption. Daily consumption is shown with 3 decimals, monthly and yearly with 2. Yearly figures are 12 × monthly; the device is assumed to run at full power for the hours entered.
Frequently asked questions
The energy a 1,000 W device uses in one hour. A 2,000 W heater uses 2 kWh per hour, a 9 W LED bulb 0.009 kWh.
Divide the total amount due on your bill by the kWh consumed in that period; that is your all-in unit price including taxes and levies. Tariffs are set by EPDK.
Its compressor cycles on and off. Use the yearly kWh from the energy label if you have it, otherwise enter the approximate running hours instead of 24.
Enter its electrical power in watts from the label (not the cooling capacity in BTU); the Cost per hour result gives the cost of one hour at full power.
1 kilowatt (kW) = 1,000 watts (W). If you know the power in kW, multiply by 1,000 and enter it in watts.
