EV Charging Cost Calculator

From battery size, charge levels, charging efficiency and the kWh price, work out the charging cost, grid energy, cost per 100 km, range added and charging time.

Version 1

Things to keep in mind:

  • DC fast-charging power drops sharply above roughly 80 %; real charging can take longer than estimated.
  • Battery temperature, weather and the car's maximum accepted power affect time and efficiency.
  • Per-minute, session or idle fees and subscription discounts at stations are not included.
  • The electricity price is your input; with time-of-use tariffs enter the price for the hours you charge.

Calculator

Battery and charge

Usable (net) battery capacity in kWh (e.g. 60).

Battery percentage when charging starts.

Battery percentage at the end; must exceed the start level (otherwise the result is 0).

Share of grid energy that reaches the battery. Typically 85–90 % for AC home charging and 90–95 % for DC fast charging.

Price

TRY

At home, the all-in kWh price from your bill; at a station, the operator's kWh price (AC and DC may differ).

Range and time (optional)

Optional: average consumption (e.g. 16). Leave 0 to skip range and cost per 100 km.

Optional: power the charger and car can actually use (e.g. 7.4 or 11 kW wallbox). Leave 0 to skip the time estimate.

After the first calculation, the result updates automatically when you change a value.

About this tool

This tool calculates, for charging an electric car at home or at a public station, the energy drawn from the grid, the charging cost, the charging loss, the car's cost per 100 km, the range added and an estimated charging time at a given power.

Formulas

  • Energy into the battery (kWh) = capacity × (target % − start %) ÷ 100
  • Grid energy = battery energy ÷ (efficiency ÷ 100)
  • Charging cost = grid energy × price per kWh
  • Cost per 100 km = consumption (kWh/100 km) ÷ (efficiency ÷ 100) × price per kWh
  • Range added = battery energy ÷ consumption × 100
  • Charging time (h) = grid energy ÷ charging power (kW)

Example

A 60 kWh battery charged from 20 % to 80 % at 90 % efficiency, 3.50 TRY per kWh, on an 11 kW wallbox: 36 kWh enter the battery, 40 kWh come from the grid and the charge costs 140.00 TRY. At 16 kWh/100 km the range added is 225 km and the cost per 100 km 62.22 TRY; the estimated time is 3.64 h (3 h 38 min).

Where to find the price

At home use the all-in kWh price from your electricity bill (Turkish tariffs are set by EPDK and change periodically); at a station use the operator's AC or DC kWh price. The tool does not hard-code any tariff.

How to use

  1. Enter the usable battery capacity (kWh).
  2. Enter the start and target charge levels and the charging efficiency.
  3. Enter the price per kWh (home or station).
  4. Optionally enter consumption (kWh/100 km) for range and charging power (kW) for time.
  5. Click Calculate.

Notes

Money is rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals, energy to 2 decimals and range to 1. Charging time assumes constant power; hours and minutes come from total minutes rounded to the nearest whole minute. If the target is not above the start level, energy and cost are 0.

Frequently asked questions

5 questions
  1. Multiply the grid energy by your all-in kWh price: 40 kWh × 3.50 TRY = 140.00 TRY. Grid energy exceeds battery energy because of losses.
