Weighted Share and Capital Allocation Calculator
Split an amount among up to 6 partners by their share ratios and see each partner’s amount, percentage and the cent rounding difference.
Things to keep in mind:
- Statutory inheritance shares, preferential profit distributions in partnership agreements and tax withholdings are not modelled.
- The rounding difference is not added to any partner automatically; decide yourself when distributing.
- Shares must use one unit (all fractions, all percentages or all amounts).

About this tool
Share-based allocation divides an amount (profit, expenses, rent, capital, etc.) among partners according to their share ratios. Shares can be entered as fraction numerators (1, 2, 3), percentages (50, 30, 20) or contributed capital; only the ratios matter.
Formula
- Total shares = share₁ + share₂ + …
- Partner amount = total amount × partner share / total shares
- Partner percentage (%) = partner share / total shares × 100
- Rounding difference = total amount − sum of the rounded amounts
Example: 1,000 split with shares 1 : 2 : 3 : 4 gives total shares of 10; the amounts are 100, 200, 300 and 400 (10 %, 20 %, 30 %, 40 %). Splitting 100 equally among three partners gives 33.33 each and a 0.01 rounding difference. In a six-partner example, 1,000 split with shares 1 : 2 : 3 : 4 : 5 : 5 gives total shares of 20; the amounts are 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 250 (5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 25 % and 25 %).
How to read the result Each partner's amount is that partner's part of the total; the percentage shows the same information as a share of 100 and the percentages add up to about 100 %. A partner with share 0 shows 0. A rounding difference of 0 means the amounts add up to the full total; above 0, you decide how to distribute the leftover cents.
Each amount is rounded half-up to two decimals on its own; the leftover cent is not automatically assigned to anyone but shown as the “rounding difference”, so you decide who receives it. Up to 6 partners are supported and the first share is required. Statutory inheritance shares (Civil Code) are not computed by this tool.
How to use
- Enter the total amount to share.
- Enter each partner’s share (fraction, percentage or capital).
- Leave unused partners at 0.
- Press Calculate and read the amounts, percentages and rounding difference.
Notes
Amounts and percentages are rounded half-up to two decimals. The rounded amounts may differ from the total by a few cents; the difference is shown separately. Shares only matter relative to each other.
Frequently asked questions
Partner amount = total amount × partner share / total shares. With 1,000 and shares 1:2:3:4 the amounts are 100, 200, 300 and 400.
Yes; enter 50, 30 and 20. They do not have to add up to 100; the tool works on ratios.
Each amount is rounded to the cent, so the sum can drift by a few cents (e.g. 100 / 3 → 3 × 33.33 = 99.99). The difference is shown as the rounding difference.
Split them into two groups, allocate the group totals first and then divide each group separately.
