Fuel Cost and Trip Expense Calculator
From distance, average consumption and fuel price, work out the fuel needed, the fuel cost, the total trip cost with tolls and the share per person.
Things to keep in mind:
- Real consumption depends on speed, traffic, load, air conditioning, gradients and weather; the result is an estimate.
- The fuel price is your input; the tool contains no live pump prices.
- Maintenance, tyre wear, insurance, depreciation and rental fees are not included.

About this tool
This tool calculates how many litres of fuel a trip needs, the fuel cost, the total trip cost including tolls and parking, the cost per kilometre and, if the cost is shared, the amount per person. It works the same for petrol, diesel and LPG cars.
Formulas
- Total distance = distance × (2 for a round trip, otherwise 1)
- Fuel (L) = total distance × consumption (L/100 km) ÷ 100
- Fuel cost = fuel (L) × price per litre
- Total cost = fuel cost + tolls and parking
- Per person = total cost ÷ people; per km = total cost ÷ total distance
Example
450 km each way, round trip, 6.5 L/100 km, 45.80 TRY per litre, 350 TRY tolls, 3 people: 900 km, 58.50 L of fuel, fuel cost 2,679.30 TRY, total 3,029.30 TRY, 1,009.77 TRY per person and 3.37 TRY per km.
Tips
Take the consumption from your trip computer or measure it with a full-tank test (litres filled ÷ km driven × 100). If you know km per litre, divide 100 by it: 15 km/L = 6.67 L/100 km. Fuel prices are set by the market and differ by province and brand; enter the current pump price.
How to use
- Enter the one-way distance in km; switch on Round trip if you return.
- Enter the average consumption (L/100 km) and the price per litre.
- Enter tolls and parking, if any, and the number of people sharing.
- Click Calculate.
Notes
Fuel cost is rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals; the total is the rounded fuel cost plus extra costs. Per-person and per-km amounts are derived from the total and rounded to 2 decimals. Fuel needed is shown with 2 decimals.
Frequently asked questions
Fill the tank, reset the trip meter and at the next fill divide the litres by the km driven and multiply by 100. 33.8 L over 520 km = 6.5 L/100 km.
Divide 100 by it: 16 km/L → 6.25 L/100 km.
The field is the total for the whole trip; add both directions together and enter one amount.
