E-Notification Service Date & Deadline Calculator (5-Day Rule)

Finds the day a Turkish electronic notification is deemed served (end of the 5th day after delivery) and the last day of the period that starts from it.

Version 2

Things to keep in mind:

  • Public and religious holidays are not deducted automatically; if the last day falls on one, the period extends to the next working day.
  • The 5-day rule does not apply to physical (postal or bailiff) service; service then occurs on the day the document is handed to you or another person listed in the law.
  • Tax, administrative and criminal procedure may use different start and recess rules; check the applicable law.
  • Missed preclusive periods cannot be restored; confirm critical deadlines with a lawyer.

Notification details

The delivered / reached-address date shown in the e-notification system (UETS, e-Devlet), not the date you read it.

The period for the required step in days (e.g. 7, 14, 15, 30). Check it in the served document or the applicable law.

Judicial recess rule

Code of Civil Procedure (HMK) art. 104: periods ending in the judicial recess (20 July–31 August) are extended by one week from the end of the recess. Criminal and administrative procedure differ.

About this tool

For electronic notifications in Turkey (UETS, e-Devlet and UYAP), the service date is not the day you open the message. Under article 7/a of the Notification Law No. 7201, an electronic notification is deemed served at the end of the fifth day after it reaches the recipient's electronic address. Lawsuit, objection and reply periods start from this service date. The tool first calculates the service date and then the last day of the period.

Formulas

  • Service date = delivery date to the electronic address + 5 days
  • Calendar end = service date + period (days) — the service day itself is not counted
  • +2 days if the last day is a Saturday, +1 if Sunday (HMK art. 93); with the recess rule, periods ending between 20 July and 31 August move to 7 September (HMK art. 104).

The five-day waiting period is not extended when its last day falls on a weekend; the service date can be a Saturday or Sunday.

Example

A notification reached your e-notification address on Monday 12 October 2026. Service date = 12 October + 5 = Saturday 17 October 2026. A 7-day objection period expires on 17 October + 7 = Saturday 24 October; because that is a holiday, the period ends on Monday 26 October 2026.

How to read the result

Opening the notification before the fifth day does not change the service date. Determine the start from the "delivered to address" date shown in the system, not from the day you read it. Public holidays are not deducted automatically; if the last day falls on one, the next working day applies.

How to use

  1. Enter the "delivered to address" date shown in the e-notification system.
  2. Enter the period for the required step in days (e.g. 7, 14, 15, 30).
  3. For civil cases subject to the judicial recess, apply the recess rule.
  4. Check the service date and the last day of the period.

Notes

The service date is the delivery date plus 5 calendar days and does not move when it falls on a weekend. The period starts on the day after the service date. Weekdays: 1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday. Saturday and Sunday are treated as holidays; public and religious holidays are not.
