Stacked Discount Calculator

Computes the final price, total savings and true (effective) discount rate from up to five sequential discounts such as 20% + 10% + 5%.

Version 2

Things to keep in mind:

  • If your campaign system rounds at each step, results may differ by a few kuruş.
  • VAT is not computed; whether the price includes VAT depends on the value you enter.
  • Fixed-amount discounts (for example a 50 TRY coupon) are not supported; percentage discounts only.

About this tool

With stacked (sequential) discounts each applies to the price after the previous one, so rates multiply instead of adding. 20% + 10% is 28%, not 30%. This tool applies up to five discounts in order and gives the final price, total savings and the combined (effective) rate of all steps.

Formulas

  • Price₁ = list × (1 − d₁ ÷ 100)
  • Price₂ = Price₁ × (1 − d₂ ÷ 100) … Price₅
  • Total savings = list − final price
  • Effective discount (%) = (1 − final ÷ list) × 100; 0 if the list price is 0
  • The simple sum of rates is shown for comparison

Intermediate steps are not rounded; only results are rounded to the kuruş (HALF_UP).

Example 1: list 1,000 TRY, 20% + 10%: 800 → 720.00 TRY; savings 280.00 TRY; effective discount 28.00% (simple sum 30%).

Example 2: list 1,000 TRY, 20% + 10% + 5%: 800 → 720 → 684.00 TRY; savings 316.00 TRY; effective discount 31.60% (simple sum 35%).

Example 3: five steps 20%, 10%, 5%, 5%, 2% give a final price of 636.80 TRY, savings of 363.20 TRY and an effective discount of 36.32% (simple sum 42%).

How to read the result: the final price is what you pay after all discounts. The effective discount rate shows the real impact of several discounts on the list price as one percentage; use it to compare offers. The simple sum is for comparison only and is not a real discount; with two or more discounts the effective rate is always smaller than the simple sum.

For VAT on discounted invoices see the discounted invoice tool.

How to use

  1. Enter the list price.
  2. Enter the discount rates in order; use 0 for unused ones.
  3. Press Calculate.

Notes

Intermediate steps are not rounded; the final price, savings and effective rate are rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals. Order does not change the result, but systems that round each step may differ by a kuruş or two.

Frequently asked questions

  1. The effective rate is 28%, not 30%. The second discount applies to the already 20%-reduced price: 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.28. A 1,000 TRY list price falls to 720.00 TRY in this case.
