About this tool
Before setting a price you need to know what an item really costs you. Shipping and packaging are often spread over several items; this tool computes that share and gives the per-item cost including shipping and packaging.
Formulas
- Total cost = product + shipping + packaging
- Cost per item = total cost ÷ item count
- Shipping and packaging per item = (shipping + packaging) ÷ count
- Share (%) = (shipping + packaging) ÷ total cost × 100; 0 if the total is 0
Amounts are rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals. Enter amounts excluding VAT; deductible VAT is not a cost.
Example 1: one item with product 100 TRY, shipping 30 TRY, packaging 5 TRY: total 135.00 TRY; 135.00 TRY per item; shipping+packaging 35.00 TRY; share 25.93%.
Example 2: 10 items with product 1,000 TRY, shipping 50 TRY, packaging 20 TRY: total 1,070.00 TRY; 107.00 TRY per item; shipping+packaging 7.00 TRY per item; share 6.54%.
Example 3 — fractional kuruş: 3 items with product 10 TRY and shipping 1 TRY: total 11.00 TRY; 3.67 TRY per item; shipping 0.33 TRY per item; share 9.09%.
How to read the result: cost per item is the unit cost you use as a floor in pricing; enter it as the cost in margin or marketplace sale calculations. A high shipping and packaging share may mean the expense must be reflected in the price, or that more items should be combined in one shipment. Commission, advertising and return costs are not included.
How to use
