Revenue Discount Calculator

Calculates the discount amount, net revenue and the total net revenue over several invoices or periods from gross revenue and a discount rate.

Version 2

Things to keep in mind:

  • Tiered or threshold-based rebates are not modelled; one rate is applied. Use the stacked discount tool for sequential rates.
  • VAT and documentation (discount invoice, credit note) effects are not computed.
  • Confirm contract terms and tax treatment with your accountant.

About this tool

A turnover discount (turnover rebate) is a reduction on the invoiced amount tied to a sales volume or period. This tool computes a percentage discount on gross revenue and the net amount after it; when the same amount repeats over several invoices or periods, it also gives the total net revenue and total discount.

Formulas

  • Discount amount = gross revenue × discount rate ÷ 100 (rounded HALF_UP to the kuruş)
  • Net revenue = gross revenue − discount amount
  • Total net revenue = net revenue × number of invoices/periods
  • Total discount = discount amount × number

The discount is rounded to the kuruş first and net revenue is derived by subtraction, so discount + net = gross. Totals are the per-invoice rounded amounts multiplied by the count.

Example 1: gross 10,000 TRY, discount 10%: discount 1,000.00 TRY, net 9,000.00 TRY.

Example 2: gross 199.99 TRY, 1% discount, 3 invoices: discount per invoice 2.00 TRY, net 197.99 TRY; total net 593.97 TRY, total discount 6.00 TRY.

Example 3 — half a kuruş: gross 0.50 TRY, 1% discount: the 0.005 discount rounds up to 0.01 TRY and net is 0.49 TRY.

How to read the result: the discount amount is the monetary value of the reduction per invoice; net revenue is what is collected or booked as revenue after the discount. The total fields show the period total when the same amount repeats. Because a single rate is applied, tiered or threshold-based rebates may not match your actual agreement.

For VAT, a trade discount reduces the VAT base, but how a later rebate is documented determines the treatment.

How to use

  1. Enter the gross revenue.
  2. Enter the discount rate (%).
  3. Enter the number of invoices or periods repeating the amount (1 for a single one).
  4. Press Calculate.

Notes

The discount is rounded HALF_UP to 2 decimals; net revenue is gross minus the rounded discount. Totals are multiplied by the count. The rate is at most 100.
