About this tool
The gain on redeeming fund units is the sale amount minus the purchase amount; the withholding tax is deducted by the fund manager or broker. Rates depend on the fund type and purchase date, so you enter the rate.
How to use
- Enter the number of units sold.
- Enter the unit purchase and sale prices.
- Enter the withholding rate and press Calculate.
Notes
Purchase and sale amounts are rounded to cents. No withholding is calculated on a loss. Lots bought on different dates are matched first-in-first-out by institutions; calculate each lot separately.
Frequently asked questions
Gain = units × (sale price − purchase price); withholding = gain × rate / 100; none on a loss.
